2015 ERS Trustee Elections Scheduled—BALLOTS DUE OCTOBER 21

HSTA’s Nominee is Logan Okita.

According to the Fall 2015 ERS publication Holomua (page 3), all active members, inactive vested members and retirees are eligible to vote for this trustee position. You should have received a voting packet consisting of a ballot, candidate information sheets and a return envelope. Voted ballots must be received by KMH LLP at 1003 Bishop Street, Suite 2400, Honolulu, HI 96813 and postmarked by October 21, 2015 to be considered valid. The new ERS Board Trustee will be announced in December.

Watch your mail for State of Hawaii Employees’ Retirement System trustee elections information.  HSTA’s nominee is Logan Okita.

Logan T. Okita, M.Ed. is an elementary school teacher with 10 years of experience in Hawaii’s public schools.  She currently teaches first grade at Nimitz Elementary School in the Central District.  Ms. Okita is a National Board Certified Teacher and holds both a Bachelor’s degree from Pacific University and Master’s degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in Education.  She currently serves on the HSTA Board of Directors and has been a state committee chair, school level leader, and member of the Negotiations Team.  Ms. Okita is a member of Hawaii Alpha Delta Kappa – Theta Chapter and Pacific University’s Alumni Association Board of Representatives. 

I would like to be elected to the ERS board because although I have been a public school teacher for ten years, I have many more years ahead of me and would like to ensure a healthy retirement system when it is my time to retire and for many generations after me. ~Logan Okita
