HSTA is excited to announce some professional development opportunities that are not on the PDE3 Web site.  ***Please take advantage of these courses by following the registration instructions below:

LEEWARD DISTRICT ONLY - Arts and Aquaponics:

Due to grant funding, the Art and Aquaponics course is open to HSTA members who teach Leeward District students.

Course dates - 9/6, 9/20, 11/15

REGISTRATION Deadline: August 20, 2014 ($75 HSTA MEMBERS ONLY)

Open to Leeward teachers only
Location: Kapolei High School
Aquaponics stimulating problem-solving through science and art

Integrating Stock Market and Economic Concepts into the Classroom

Course Description
A 3-day course for public and private school teachers K-12 to learn strategies to integrate the stock market into other disciplines. The strategies include how to differentiate instruction as well as utilize multiple intelligences to create meaningful stock market lessons and units.

Objectives
Participants will:

* Raise awareness of the value of saving and investing
* Integrate stock market across various grade levels and subjects
* Practice Common Core Math and Language Arts Standards
* Develop and implement lessons that enhance student engagement
* Demonstrate and share the attributes of core professionalism with
  their colleagues
