I know we are all focused on the second semester and return from winter break, however, I am sorry that I must contact you with some sad news. It is with heavy heart that I notify you that HSTA’s Deputy Executive Director, Stacy Nishina, passed away yesterday morning.
Many of you have worked with Stacy in schools, in leadership positions, and on HSTA committees so I wanted to share this news with you.
Our staff not only grieves the passing of a special individual but also for the loss her family suffers. Stacy was a friend and a colleague to us but also a wife, daughter, sister, and aunt. You may know that her dogs were also a big part of her life. Please join us in thoughts or prayers for Stacy’s husband, Les Murashige, and her family.
We will keep in contact with Les to provide whatever support our Association can for the family while respecting their privacy. We will share information about how to send condolences and arrangements for Stacy on the HSTA Web site when those details are finalized.
She Is Gone
You can shed tears that she is gone
Or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back
Or you can open your eyes and see all she has left.
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her
Or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her and only that she’s gone
Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back
Or you can do what she would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
