Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi was in Honolulu for the January 16, 2015 ceremonial swearing-in for Hawaii’s newest congressman, Mark Takai. The official ceremony was conducted in Washington, DC on January 6, 2015. While in Hawaii, the former House Speaker attended a fundraiser for Takai.

During his ceremonial swearing-in, Congressman Takai credited his public school education for preparing him to represent the people of Hawaii’s 1st district. Takai attended Pearl City High School and the University of Hawaii.
