New HTSB system and website began Monday

The Hawaii Teacher Standards Board’s new licensing system and website deployed on Monday, July 31.
The HTSB reports receiving some complaints about login issues, and most of those have been because the individuals didn’t use the unique temporary login/password that was emailed to them. When they tried to login without that information, they became locked out and had to call our office. The HTSB added a bright yellow message on its login site asking them to use their specific information and that seems to have helped.
HTSB specialists asked that HSTA members be reminded of the following:
The DOE license fee payments are now automatic; teachers do not have to request a payment. Payments that were due on 6/30/17, are being paid by the DOE for teachers eligible for this under the current HSTA contract.
If teachers ineligible for the DOE payment did not make their license fee payment due on 6/30/17, they should login to their new HTSB account and make payment so their license is not forfeited. If an individual has a fee payment that came due on or after 7/1/17, the fee is now due 6/30/18, and they will receive a notice in January. If the DOE is making the payment, it will happen automatically. If an ineligible teacher is making the payment, they will be told to login to their account and make payment.
All teachers should use the “Contact HTSB” tab in the new online account to contact HTSB, as its licensing section works to answer those inquiries first. A person may establish an account online and contact the Licensing Section before they officially submit their application. By using this method, they have all of their HTSB correspondence in one place for future reference.
The HSTB wants to thank the teachers for their understanding and patience as we transition to the new system.
