Primary Election:  Mahalo Teachers!

Aloha Colleague,

Thank you for your support and enthusiasm leading up to, and during, the primary election on August 9, 2014.

Because of your collective action, David Ige and Mark Takai won their primaries by substantial margins. And Colleen Hanabusa still has a chance to win the primary election for U.S. Senate.

Your efforts truly made a difference.  Throughout election night, political observers and the news media repeatedly mentioned that the support of Hawaii’s public school teachers was instrumental in Hawaii’s gubernatorial and congressional races.

It is a testament to the power of collection action and the desire of Hawaii’s teachers to elect candidates that have shown a strong commitment to Hawaii’s students, educators, and our public education system as a whole.

We cannot rest on our laurels, and we still have a difficult campaign leading up to the general election on November 4. But I wanted to again thank you for your efforts and your continuing commitment.

Mahalo,
Wil Okabe
President
