5 ways teacher unions advocate for students, educators

To love a teacher is to love a union member.

*National Education Association members are our friends, family and our neighbors, and they are deeply committed to the success of every child. The vast majority of our nation’s teachers are also proud union members.  (*Did you know that NEA is the nation’s largest labor union?)

*Trying to draw a distinction between educators and their union is like trying to draw a distinction between the ocean and water.

*In reality, educators’ unions are made up of bus drivers, school custodians, nurses, school crossing guards, librarians, cafeteria workers, teachers-people who are upstanding members of communities who dedicate their lives to educating the next generation of Americans.

*The story of America is the story of its working people-their struggles and successes and their hopes for a better future for themselves and their families. On Labor Day, and every day, we celebrate their contributions to our society, those struggles and successes, including those of public school workers.
