Wil Okabe will lead the Hawaii State Teachers Association for a three-year term. The selection of other HSTA office holders was also announced.

As the elected leader of HSTA, Wil has the experience and commitment to advocate for students and teachers. He has been a teacher for 29 years. Wil currently teaches Physical Education and is the Assistant Athletic Director at Hilo High School.
In addition to being involved in the school, district, state, and national levels of HSTA, Wils work with community groups and service on government boards and commissions connects him with community partners on issues important to teachers, students, and public education in Hawaii.
HSTAs new Leadership Team also includes: Karolyn Mossman, a teacher at Kalama Middle School, as vice president Joan Lewis, a teacher at Hoola Leadership Academy at Kapolei High School, secretary-treasurer Fran Bellinger, a teacher at King Intermediate School, as alternate representative to the NEA board.
