The HSTA Voluntary Employees Beneficiary Association (VEBA) Trust is offering active HSTA members an open enrollment period for Long Term Income Protection (LTIP or LTD), Critical Illness Insurance (CII) and Accident Insurance (AI).

Open enrollment is the perfect opportunity to sign up, because you are guaranteed issue. This means there are no additional medical forms to complete.  As an additional member benefit, if this is your first time enrolling in a VEBA Trust plan, you will also be enrolled in the Long Term Care Base Plan at no additional cost to you.

Long Term Income Protection (disability insurance)
Plan underwritten by Hartford Life and Accident Insurance Company

Long-term disability helps protect your paycheck after a serious accident or serious illness. It provides a percentage of your income each month, depending on how much protection you have. Click here to watch a quick video on disability insurance.

Critical Illness Insurance
Plan underwritten by MetLife

Critical illness insurance works to complement your medical coverage. It pays in addition to what your medical plan may or may not cover. It’s a coverage that provides financial support when you become seriously ill. Upon diagnosis, it provides you a lump-sum payment of $15,000 or $30,000 (whichever plan you enrolled in) in initial benefits.

Accident Insurance
Plan underwritten by UNUM

Accident insurance can pay a set benefit amount based on the type of injury you have and the type of treatment you need. It covers accidents that occur on and off the job, and it provides tax-free benefits to members from a range of incidents, from common injuries to more serious events. HSTA VEBA Trust will provide a $5 monthly subsidy toward your monthly premiums.

Learn more about HSTA VEBA plans online here, or call the office at (808) 440-6940 or 1-800-637-4926 (toll-free from neighbor islands).
