Check out this classroom! Brittney Hamilton, a first-year Spanish teacher at Radford High School, won HSTA Central Chapter’s classroom makeover raffle. She received an assortment of storage bins, markers, pens and cleaning wipes.

The prize also included a volunteer cleaning crew: teachers Amanda and Alvin Lacar, and Central UniServ Director Ray Camacho.

"As this is my first year teaching, I came into Radford High School with many supplies and random things already in my classroom," Hamilton said. "I don't often get the chance to just wipe things down in my room, so I was grateful they were all willing to do whatever necessary to help me."

Hamilton shared her winnings with fellow first-year teacher Karina Polo Lung.

"We all had a chance to talk story, and Alvin and Amanda gave us some insight on the students coming from Aliamanu up to Radford High School," Hamilton said. "Overall, it was a great experience. I definitely was not expecting to win this prize, and am very thankful to HSTA for bringing me the supplies as well as helpful hands to my classroom."

The raffle is one of Central Chapter’s activities to welcome new members.
