The Hawaii State Teachers Association has two openings on Oahu for a negotiations and research specialist as well as an executive assistant (EA).

The negotiations and research specialist will be responsible for researching and providing data analyses and presenting recommendations regarding collective bargaining and advocacy. The applicant must be an effective communicator, self-starter, and must be able to work independently with time-sensitive deadlines and pressure, exercising judgment and initiative.

The negotations and research specialist is a full-time, 12-month position. A baccalaureate degree is required. Five (5) years experience in collective bargaining or labor relations is required. Additional experience in public sector law, research, data analysis, and presentation is desired.

The executive assistant (EA) will provide support to the HSTA's deputy executive director and shall perform a variety of complex and confidential secretarial, administrative duties, and related work requiring independent judgment, discretion, and initiative.

An associate degree from business or community college or five (5) years of applicable business experience is required for a successful EA applicant, along with five (5) years of progressively responsible experience performing skilled secretarial, clerical, and administrative support functions. Excellent writing and communication skills, including demonstrated excellence in proofreading and editing, are also required. The EA will fill a 12-month, full-time position.
