Charles Lacy Veach was born in Chicago and grew up in Honolulu. He had a distinguished career in the U.S. Air Force before flying in two NASA Space Shuttle missions. He worked as the lead astronaut for the development and operation of robotics for the International Space Station (ISS) and logged 436 hours in space.

He reminds us all that the dreams of today can be forged into exploration and discoveries of tomorrow.

The 2019 Astronaut Lacy Veach Day of Discovery is sponsored by the Hawaiian Electric Companies, Kamehameha Schools, and the Hawaii Space Grant Consortium with support from the Chatlos Foundation, NASA, and the family of Lacy Veach.
