Mid-Pacific Institute’s Kupu Hou Academy is hosting free live webinars through the month of May, and HSTA members are invited to participate.

Kupu Hou Academy at Mid-Pacific works to develop teachers and leaders through training opportunities that focus on student-centered practice, deeper learning, and project-based learning. Kupu Hou provides opportunities to attend virtual open sessions for question, discussion, and support. They also have structured offerings that focus on the needs of learners in a more virtual environment.

Among the free virtual events: 

  • Tuesday, May 12, 1:30 to 2 p.m. How to Support Learners in Research and Their Understanding of Media Bias. Explore the ways to build powerful virtual learning that addresses media bias and strengthen student research skills
  • Thursday, May 14, 3 to 3:30 p.m. Whiteboards and Collaborative Spaces. Look at the ways collaborative spaces like interactive whiteboards and shared concept mapping can build in engaging learning and provide rich assessment opportunities.
  • Tuesday, May 19, 1:30 to 2 p.m. Nurturing and Leveraging the Community to Enrich Virtual Learning. Learn strategies and explore resources to connect your classroom to the community. Leveraging community partnerships provides a win-win scenario to make your curriculum come alive!    
  • Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 3 to 4 p.m. Live Koffee Klatches that offer an unstructured video conference for connections, questions and support.

Kupu Hou Academy at Mid-Pacific Institute is grounded in teachers helping teachers to grow their professional practice through hands-on, interactive and collaborative design work in deeper learning.
