The Hawaii State Teachers Association is proud to offer Office Hours, a series of online seminars designed to educate and inform our new educators on a variety of topics.
Starting in school year 2020–21, the Hawaii Department of Education will require teachers who provide direct instruction to students to obtain their six Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) credits within three years.
"Having just come from student teaching and graduating, I felt that I was set and ready to take on the world and my own classroom. I was not prepared for the feeling of failure."
Veteran teachers statewide would receive salary increases by moving up anywhere from one to five steps, gaining millions of dollars worth of salary increases if lawmakers approve a proposal from the state schools superintendent.
Each year, a winner is chosen based on his or her ability to demonstrate leadership, dedication and passion in five categories: scholarship, teaching, advocacy, community, and youth.
