The Hawaiian Education Committee was added to the HSTA family of standing committees in August 2025. The HEC serves in an advisory capacity to the Board of Directors to uplift Hawaiian ways of knowing and being, ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi, culture, and history across the Hawaiʻi State Department of Education. The work of this committee falls both inside and outside of HSTA, in areas involving Hawaiian education for all schools under the jurisdiction of the Hawaiʻi Board of Education, community partnerships, and programs that elevate and protect Hawaiian Education across the state.
