WWWBWS is a six-lesson mini-unit encompassing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. It is adapted from the Michigan Farm Bureau and engages students through hands-on learning experiences. In these mini-units, students will explore seeds, plant cycles, and the local agriculture industry. The goal of this curriculum is to introduce agriculture and farming to elementary students to spark an interest in a young child’s mind about the possibilities of a career in agriculture.
This unit is specifically targeted for grade 2 students, but can easily be adapted for any student in grades K-3, including those who may have special or modified learning needs. Lessons are aligned to Next Generation science standards and Common Core state standards in English language arts and math so that they can be easily taught and implemented in any classroom.
Participants will receive the WWWBWS curriculum and a list of materials including where they may be purchased. HAF will reimburse participants for their purchases up to $50. In addition, participants will receive a $100 stipend for attending. Lunch will be provided. Reimbursement and stipend payment information will be shared at the training.
