Hawaiʻi Foundation for Educators ‘Hakuhou Grant’ can be used for classroom supplies, resources

Educators can now apply for the Hawaiʻi Foundation for Educators Hakuhou Grant to boost creativity in their classrooms.

The $500 grant, whose name means to “create anew,” aims to inspire educators to develop fresh, innovative instructional activities to meet their students’ learning needs.

All Hawaiʻi full-time public, private, and charter school classroom teachers are eligible to apply, and successful applicants will receive up to $500 to purchase essential supplies, materials, equipment, or other resources needed for their proposed projects.

The funds can be used for various educational necessities, including supplies, books, electronics, equipment, furniture, and other essential materials that facilitate creative learning.

Teachers must complete an application form that details how the requested items will be used to implement innovative educational experiences in their classrooms.

The application also requires a short 1-2 minute video of your classroom, and you should describe how the grant funds will impact your students.

Applications due by 4 p.m. on Dec. 31. Awardees will be announced Jan. 15, 2025.

Grantees will be required to provide a brief description of their project success and photos or video of student products or performances by May 16, 2025.
