To say this year has been challenging is an understatement, especially for educators.

When the pandemic separated us, we scrambled to provide connection, support, and some semblance of normalcy for our students. But it often came at our own expense.

HSTA’s Instruction and Professional Development (IPD) Department wants to help members build their own emotional resilience.

We’re looking for 30 teachers who can commit to a pilot professional development book study based on the book “Onward: Cultivating Emotional Resilience in Educators” by Elena Aguilar. HSTA will provide participants with a copy of the book.

To be part of the pilot, participants must commit to meeting once a month. Each meeting will be based on the chapter for that month. Participants will be asked to read the chapter prior to the meeting and come ready to discuss the focus and tools for that month.

Sessions will be conducted virtually through Zoom and run from January through December 2021. Once the participants are chosen, a Doodle will be sent out to determine the best day and time for the first and future meetings.

If you are interested in joining this book study, click on the form link below and fill in the information. We only have room for 30, so please don’t wait to fill out the form.
