The Hawaii State Teachers Association has made the following changes due to concerns over coronavirus (COVID-19):
HSTA's 2020 state convention will be held virtually. Chapter pre-convention caucuses will also be virtual. This event was originally scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 2, at the Hawaii Convention Center. Any arrangements made to attend in person should be canceled.

HSTA's Social Justice Summit has been postponed. This event was originally scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 3, at McKinley High School.
HSTA President Corey Rosenlee said:
“We understand the impact these changes can have on our membership and community. While we always hope that conditions will improve, the future of the virus and its impact on our islands remain uncertain. We have to make decisions based on the facts and information we have at this time, no matter how difficult.
These events require a great amount of time, energy, and resources, and may involve a wide range of participants, including individuals, companies, and organizations outside of HSTA. We do not want to risk public health and safety, nor do we want to jeopardize anyone’s time or money by implementing last-minute changes.
As the situation continues to rapidly evolve, we are making every effort to adapt as best we can. You are our priority. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
