Peaceful protests planned across the islands, nation

On Saturday, Oct. 18, numerous ‘No Dictators!’ Day of Defiance events are planned across the Hawaiian islands and around the country as an all-out effort to protect democracy and the U.S. Constitution, led by Indivisible Hawai’i Statewide Network.

Thousands of Hawaiʻi residents, including teachers, veterans, immigration and civil rights advocates, are expected to join events on Oʻahu, Maui, and Hawaiʻi Island to protest peacefully against President Donald Trump’s abuse of power and divisive rhetoric. Island protest efforts are not using the “No Kings!” name out of deference to Hawaiʻiʻs monarchy, which was overthrown in 1893.

The nationwide peaceful mass rallies in hundreds of cities in all 50 states will help remind Trump and those on the sidelines looking for hope: America has No Dictators. We will stand up again to demand protection against discrimination, embrace diversity, and reject fascism.

Hawaiʻi event times, locations

All Hawai’i residents are invited to join one of Indivisible Hawai’i’s peaceful protest locations. Participants are urged to bring signs, musical instruments including drums and drinking water, and to review Indivisible Hawai’i’s Peaceful Protest Protocols to keep everyone safe.

This list is not exhaustive: There will be other groups across Hawai’i organizing their own pop-up protests against President Trump’s authoritarian actions in locations of choice.
