10-month teachers see this year’s raises in their Aug. 20 paychecks

Teachers throughout the state are beginning this school year with a pay raise.

Classroom (10-month) teachers saw a 3% pay hike in their Aug. 20 paychecks, while 12-month teachers saw their raises beginning with their July 20 checks.

Starting teacher salaries increased this school year from $51,835 to $53,390. Top pay for an educator on the 10-month schedule went up from $95,090 to $97,943.

The 10-month salary schedule can be found in Exhibit C of the contract. The 12-month salary schedule can be found on in Exhibit CC of the contract.

These salary schedules are also posted online here, but you must be an active HSTA member and signed in with your registered web account to view this member-exclusive link.

Per the HSTA contract, Article VII, B, teachers should have been notified of their employment and salary status for the ensuing school year no later than the last day of the school year or as soon as possible after the consummation of transfers and/or new assignments.

The Hawaiʻi State Department of Education (HIDOE) began sending out personnel action forms (Form 5s) at the end of May. Public charter schools should have done the same.

HIDOE teachers with questions about their Form 5s should email cert.trans@k12.hi.us. Public charter school teachers should contact their administration and inquire when they can expect to receive their notice.
