Get up to 5 years of candidate support

National Board Certification was designed to develop, retain, and recognize accomplished teachers and generate ongoing improvement in schools nationwide. It is the most respected professional certification available in K–12 education.

The Hawaiʻi State Teachers Association, in collaboration with Kamehameha Schools’ Hoʻolaukoa Educational Systems and Strategies, offers support to all HSTA members and Kamehameha Schools teachers who are navigating the complex process of National Board Certification.

Why should I attend HSTA candidate support sessions?

The purpose of the candidate support sessions is to provide guidance and support through each of the four components when a National Board candidate is ready to focus on that component. The five meetings are organized so candidates review the component (a deep dive was done during Summer Jump Start), brainstorm, and plan for it. The final two sessions give candidates time to discuss their work and conduct peer reviews to ensure they are addressing all the necessary parts of the component.

How much does it cost?

The cost for the candidate support package is $150. This gives the candidate one Jump Start and up to five years of candidate support.
