The Hawaii Distance Learning Forum holds its first virtual conference next week, and it’s free! Join the Grow With Us Virtual Conference the afternoon of July 23 and the morning of July 24.

It will be chock-filled with opportunities to learn and share specific ideas and solutions with colleagues, including:

  • Breakout Presentations: Participants self-select a topic in which the presenter shares information and resources.
  • Colleague Roundtable: Given a topic, participants will narrow a problem of practice for discussion and begin to move forward with understanding and action.
  • Lightning Round: Rotate to different spaces to hear a brief 10-minute presentation of a service, topic, strategy. Exchange contact information.
  • The Un-Conference: Based on a pre-conference survey, educators meet in different spaces to discuss topics of their choice verbally and using the chat box or Google document.

“The Grow With Us theme embodies e hoʻoulu kekahi i kekahi, which means to grow with one another,” said Ashley Mika Ito, a teacher at Kanoelani Elementary in HSTA’s Leeward Chapter, and creator of the Hawaii Distance Learning Forum.

“As we gather, we are inspired to step up and lead with local talent and wisdom at the forefront. Learning together helps us to support one another while growing our strengths and our community of leaders and learners,” she said.

Watch episode one of Strategy Talks with HSTA IPD, which premiered last month on HSTA’s Facebook page, when our Instruction and Professional Development Department met with Ito virtually.
