The Hawaii State Teachers Association is proud to celebrate the contributions of the LGBTQIA+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual) community and the cultural diversity of our island home.
The HSTA’s Human and Civil Rights Committee encourages HSTA members, staff, and public school students to participate in community Pride events, which includes the annual Honolulu Pride Parade on Oahu.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Honolulu Pride’s 2020 event will be celebrated virtually on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. with a live stream hosted by Candy Shell and DJ My Friend George that includes a ‘tiny float parade.’
Since we are unable to gather together, feel free to get creative and submit your own tiny float video! This could be a fun project for student GSAs and other school groups. See this post’s featured photo as an example, courtesy Honolulu Pride.
Your tiny float video clip needs to be 10 seconds long and must be shot horizontally from an iPhone or mobile device in the highest resolution (1080p or 4k). No audio necessary, only video needed. Send a message and show your Pride while keeping your video clean, safe, and family-friendly.
Submissions are due Oct. 1. Visit HonoluluPride.com for more information on virtual events throughout the month of October.
