About the foundation

The Hawaii Foundation for Educators (HFE) was formed to tackle the many challenges facing the teaching profession today. We concentrate on three types of programs to provide Hawaii teachers with quality training:

  • Professional development and training,
  • Leadership development, and
  • Research and innovation.

Currently HFE is focusing on building robust professional development and training opportunities for teachers to develop their practice in the classroom. This effort is also an integral part of the Hawaii State Teachers Association’s initiative to combat Hawaii’s teacher shortage crisis.

Some current examples of courses offered by HSTA that are funded by HFE:

  • “I Can Do It” Effective Classroom Management,
  • Creating Identity Safe Classrooms,
  • Cultivating Culturally Responsive Classrooms,
  • Feminization of Education,
  • Introduction to G-Suite,
  • 21st Century Student Level 1 and 2, and
  • Making Ethical Decisions (in partnership with the Hawaii Teachers Standards Board).

Donations

Donations to HFE are used to pay the instructors for the professional development courses. In addition, the funds are used to purchase resources for the professional development courses so that the teachers do not incur any out-of-pocket cost to further their practice.

To make a donation to the HFE fund and help promote teacher growth and development, please send a check to:
