The application review process may take up to six (6) weeks pending receipt of required documents. All applications will be processed in the order they are received.
Applications submitted after May 15, 2024, may not be processed before June 30, 2024.
Applicants should go to their HTSB My Profile Home and check My HTSB Transaction History for the status of their application.
Educators do not have to pay to renew their licenses, thanks to funding provided by the Hawaiʻi State Legislature.
Please note:
- Provisional License holders who will complete three full years of teaching by June 30, 2024, can apply to convert to a Standard License starting on May 1, 2024.
- Provisional License holders who will not complete three full years of teaching by June 30, 2024, may apply for a new Provisional License starting on July 1, 2024.
- HTSB Permit holders may apply for a new Permit starting on July 1, 2024.
HTSB is the state agency authorized to license teachers, school librarians, and school counselors in Hawaiʻi. The Hawaiʻi State Teachers Association, the union representing those educators, does not process teacher licensing requests.
Contact the HTSB if you need more information on the license renewal process.
