The Hawaiʻi State Teachers Association has an opening for a government relations specialist position located on the island of Oʻahu.

We are seeking a strong advocate who has experience working in government relations to develop and implement plans for legislation and public policy issues related to Hawaiʻi public schools, and who has experience working with Hawaiʻi’s Legislature, government officials, public education, and labor unions.

A baccalaureate degree is required, and it is preferred that applicants have five years of professional experience working with the Hawaiʻi Legislature, including writing testimony, drafting bills, position papers and lobbying. The applicant must be a self-starter and have the ability to relate to people with diverse cultural and political backgrounds while working under time-sensitive deadlines and pressure.

The position requires a person who is articulate, relatable, organized and a believer in public education. The salary range for this position is $82,020 to $121,085 annually.
