Jenifer Evans connects with educators nationwide through professional learning networks

Congratulations, Jenifer Evans! The Hahaione Elementary third-grade teacher was named one of Scholastic’s 2022–23 Teacher Fellows. The program, which is in its first year, assembled a team of 12 K–8 educators with diverse levels of experience and backgrounds to collaborate with Scholastic Education Solutions’ product development, research and publishing teams.

Four groups are focusing on different projects. Evans’ group is examining ways to honor teachers’ time and deliver actionable strategies that can be implemented seamlessly into the classroom.

“Through my research, I am connecting with educators across the nation through professional learning networks,” Evans explained. “As my team and I survey these educators, I’m discovering that we are all experiencing similar celebrations and concerns. It is empowering to see that we are all working toward solutions that will have the most impact on our students.”

Evans added, “It is incredible to see how receptive Scholastic is to our feedback. Scholastic has been so quick to incorporate suggestions made by the team to support teachers and students.”

The cohort will meet in person at Scholastic’s headquarters in New York City in July to share their findings. Fellows also receive a $2,000 stipend as well as at least $500 retail value of books and materials from Scholastic.
