Members are encouraged to apply to be NEA Distance Learning Educators, and serve as webinar designers and facilitators specializing in Distance Teaching and Learning for the 2020–21 school year. As part of the application process, applicants will propose and demonstrate a new offering for the catalogue.
This leadership opportunity is designed to support the shifting needs of educators during the COVID-19 pandemic. DLEs design and facilitate webinars related to quality teaching and learning at a distance.
Apply to become an NEA Distance Learning Educator
Application close date: Sunday, Aug. 9, at midnight Hawaii–Aleutian Time Zone.
It will take you approximately one to two hours to complete the DLE application and completion will require the inclusion of a screencast. You may start and then return to the application at a later time. To be considered for the leadership role, please answer all questions and complete the application fully.
If selected for this leadership opportunity, you and a partner will collaboratively design, revise, and lead a 60–90 minute webinar for NEA or state affiliates. Webinars may be hosted multiple times for different audiences. The webinar may also be recorded and reformatted as a self-paced learning module on NEA's Learning Management System, LearnUpon.
If you have more than one idea to augment our catalogue of offerings, please submit a new Google Form for each webinar idea. The webinars can be technology, content or pedagogically focused, but they must demonstrate virtual teaching and learning best practices.
All webinars are co-designed and facilitated, so you may want to collaborate from the start and have a partner complete an application as well. However, you can also be paired up after your application is accepted.
Compensation will be $125 for each webinar you design and facilitate, and $125 each time you facilitate thereafter. All webinars become the property of NEA. The work flow includes collaborating to create a slide deck, working with NEA and/or affiliates to tailor the webinar for their purposes, arriving to webinars 20 minutes in advance, co-facilitating the webinar, answering questions for 5–20 minutes at the conclusion of a webinar, and participating in a follow-up debrief and/or revision as needed.
