HIDOE to cover registration fee for participants who sign up by May 30

The Hawaiʻi State Department of Education Office of Student Support Services (OSSS) EL Program is accepting registrants for the Quality Teaching for English Learners (QTEL) Summer Institute June 12–16 on Oʻahu. Participants who attend all five days of this institute will receive 30 non-credit seat hours toward their sheltered instruction qualification (SIQ).

  • When: June 12–16, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Where: Hawaiʻi Convention Center
  • Registration and materials: $2,500 per person for a five-day, in-person institute. Teams of 5 or more participants are $2,000 per person for a five-day, in-person institute. Breakfast and lunch included daily.

OSSS EL Program will pay the registration fee for all participants who sign up by May 30. Any interested parties should contact their EL Complex Leads to sign up. Those who may have signed up as an individual via the QTEL website will need to contact Kathleen Grondin at kathleen.grondin@k12.hi.us or (808) 305-9625 for their registration fee reimbursement. Hotel and airfare will not be covered.
