HSTA board approves official Hawaiian translation of union’s formal name

On the final day of Mahina ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian Language Month), the Hawaiʻi State Teachers Association’s Board of Directors voted to approve the official Hawaiian translation of the union’s formal name: Ka ʻAhahui Kumu Kula o Hawaiʻi Pae ʻĀina.

Hawaiʻi lawmakers are considering whether to establish the second Monday in October as a new state holiday, Indigenous Peoples' Day, replacing the state Election Day holiday.
