The Hawai‘i State Department of Education reports a significant decrease in the number of teacher vacancies this school year – roughly 340 – compared to more than 1,000 vacancies at the start of last school year. Senate Bill 975 will tax electronic smoking devices and e-liquids, similar to tobacco products, and restrict shipping to wholesalers and retailers, meaning they can no longer be shipped directly to individuals. The measure was approved by the state Legislature earlier this month and awaits Gov. Josh Green’s signature.
