DOE extends deadline for computer, school design grants
The Hawaii Department of Education (HIDOE) is committed to advancing the implementation of Computer Science (CS) Standards through targeted professional development, exemplar units of study, teacher collaboration and innovative school design. The Office of Curriculum and Instructional Design (OCID) has dedicated $425,000 in general funds to support this commitment.
Computer Science grants will provide awards between $15,000 and $75,000 to K-8 consortia demonstrating the ability to address the following desired outcomes:
To support Computer Science implementation in K-8 schools to increase interest and participation in CS courses offered by high schools. (Meeting the 2022 goal of having every high school offer at least one Computer Science course.)
To identify powerful teaching practices and instructional strategies.
To document changes in practice systemically noting direct impact on complex, school, or classroom design.
