On Friday, May 29, the Hawaii State Teachers Association streamed a live briefing on Facebook and YouTube to discuss the latest developments relating to the coronavirus pandemic and schools. HSTA leaders also answered members’ questions.
While the school year has come to an end for our students and most of our members, the work of HSTA will continue through the summer. Since our last broadcast, schools have gone through their end-of-year checkout procedures and are preparing for summer programs.
With the end of the school year, we have shifted to a greater focus on what the reopening of the school year will look like. We have an even greater sense of urgency because our multi-track schools are scheduled to start their school year the first week of July.

If you have a question that was not answered during the live stream, you can reach out to your HSTA school-level leaders, your UniServ director, or submit your question online here.
Normally, HSTA reduces the frequency of weekly Member Matters email newsletters to every other week during the summer. But since there are so many potential developments because of the coronavirus, we will continue to send you weekly email blasts for the next two months. As always, look for special bulletins if something important or urgent develops.
